Specific Job Related Duties
Performs contract monitoring services for offender patients in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to include medical, nursing, dental, and mental health care services. Work involves monitoring medical activities and trends and making recommendations for improvement; and planning, assigning, and supervising the work of others. Works under the general director of the Health Services Division Director with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Provides coordination of contract and quality monitoring of the Correctional Managed Health Care (CMHC) delivery system to include medical, nursing, dental and mental health services and assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and standards related to program health services. Conducts and reviews the results of special audits and internal audits to provide direction and guidance and ensure compliance with standards of the American Correctional Association, Executive Directives, Administrative Directives, CMHC policies, court orders, and other applicable rules, regulations and statutes. Serves as a representative to various health care committees within the Health Services Division and CMHC program, including pharmacy and therapeutics, policy and procedure, and mortality and morbidity; and represents the agency at business meetings, hearings, trials, legislative sessions, conferences, seminars, and boards, panels and committees.
Develops plans for unit facility space, supplies, equipment and staff required for health services programs. Plans, assigns and supervises the work of others.
Standard office environment. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
