Min Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

RN with an Associate’s Degree and seven (7) years of nursing experience related, including two (2) years progressive management and research experience. Current licensure or valid permit to practice professional nursing in Texas.

Job Summary:

Provides supervision, coordination and facilitation of cardiology research activities and protocols in relation to patient care, including protocol design, budgeting, planning, implementation and evaluation. Manages cardiology clinical research projects via study protocols within a department and directs the nursing process of assessment, planning, evaluation, and intervention, and other administrative duties related to clinical research and specific clinical duties in support of the study.

Salary Range

From $65,840 to $105,344 annually. (Commensurate with experience)

Specific Job Related Duties

  • Manages the effective operation of multiple department protocols in collaboration with the principal investigator or study sponsor
  • Provides overall coordination and facilitation of research activities and protocol
  • Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the nursing care of patients under clinical trials and manage the operation of protocols for the department
  • Assesses staffing needs based upon current research activity and implements changes in staffing as needed
  • May collaborate with the physician and/or protocol sponsor regarding protocol design, implementation and evaluation
  • Assists in formulations and dissemination of clinic policies and procedures
  • Provides human resources management to research nurses under direct supervision
  • May present findings of research projects to staff and professional groups
  • Assist with educational activities of the departmental and other research staff
  • Attends and participaqtes in campus coordinator workshops
  • Educates other research personnel regarding certification process
  • Conducts in-service to floor nurses / physicians
  • Maintains licensures through continuing education (CEU)

Preferred Skill/Competency

  • Basic PC skills, including word processing, report writing and email skills
  • Spanish language skills may be a plus
  • Good written and verbal English Skills
  • Must exhibit high organizational skills
  • Efficient time management skills

Preferred Work Experience

Experience in clinical cardiology (practice or research) is preferred.

  • Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate to enable one to quickly and aqccurately perform tasks such as: reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining details, sending and receiving clear and accurate verbal communication
  • Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory inputs
  • Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury
