Min Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of medical billing or related experience, or related training from an accredited agency. The coder must be able to code & QA Outpatient Technical and Professional in 4 or more specialties. CCA, CCS, or CCSP coding certification from AHIMA; or CPCA, CPC, CPCHA coding certification from AAPC required within one year of hire. Successful completion of General Compliance Coder testing within 6 months of hire is also required.


Properly codes Professional Inpatient, Physician outpatient and technical charges for multiple clinics to ensure accuracy and optimal reimbursement from all third party payers

Specific Job Related Duties **

  • Works coding related charge reviewand claimedits dailyto ensuretimelyandaccurate billing.The Specialist shouldalso researchesandresolve anyand all codingrelated issues, andassists inmeetingproductivityand qualitystandards.

  • Conducts the qualityreviewofoutpatient coding, assures coding compliance withfederalregulations,andmaintains up-to-date codingguidelines and codingpolicychanges. Reviews,interprets,and assignsdiagnostic andprocedural codes baseduponmedical recorddocumentationaccordingto correct coding principles. Provides skilled and specialized technicalwork in documentationandcodingfor medical billing, abstracts complexpatient-relateddatafrom medical recordsand coding of diagnoses andproceduresusingICD-10 and CPTcodes.

  • Work allWQPB/HBerrors daily

  • Educate and offerfeedbackto physicians and staff asneeded to ensure that documentation iscomplete,accurate,and compliant with guidelines.

  • Maintainacceptableproductivitylevel and keepPre/ARat orbelowdepartmental standard.

  • Activelyparticipateinteam functions suchas team meetings, educational sessions, and teamprojects.

  • Adheres to internalcontrols and reportingstructure.
