Min Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or basic sciences required. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a laboratory as Certified Technologist required. Certified Technologist, Specialist or Diploma from either the American society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI).

Job Summary:

Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, Laboratory Services provides administrative and technical skills necessary to organize, supervise, and complete various medical laboratory procedures within a section.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is from $59,200 to $88,800 annually, commensurate with experience.

This is a pay Band Code PC21.

Specific Job Related Duties

. Position is primarily overseeing off shift (evening and night) and need to be flexible with the hours to meet the needs of the lab.

. Coordinates and directs all administrative and laboratory procedures within the area.

. Acts as lead worker, supervises, directs, plans, develops implements, evaluates and oversees the execution of daily operations including scheduling work assignments.

. Facilitates communication on a daily basis. Insures staff members are aware of all pertinent departmental information.

. Serves as a liaison between departmental staff, management and supervisory staff.

. Coordinates development of new test procedures; reviews and updates existing test procedures.

. Maintains laboratory manuals for the area.

. Reviews quality of test results and quality control procedures, making judgments concerning results and taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy.

. Reviews test results, QC data, proficiency data for accuracy and monitors QA and CLIA requirements,

. Develops protocols and procedures for the area.

. May work in more than one division.

. Orients and trains new employees, area personnel, and students in new and established clinical laboratory procedures.

. Assists personnel with complex procedures, exercising independent judgment and responsibility.

. Administers personnel policies such as sick leave, vacation, and performance evaluations for section personnel.

. Provides input for interviewing/hiring/evaluating employees.

. Maintains inventory of reagents and other supplies including ordering supplies and monitoring expenditures and providing input for budget.

. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure

Work Schedule

Work Schedule: 6 PM till 2:30 AM (hours are flexible).

Preferred Work Experience

2 years or more experience in Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood Bank is preferred.
