Min Qualifications

Must hold a current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

Must hold current Drug Enforcement Agency certificate.

Must hold current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.

Job Description Provides professional services related to the diagnosis and treatment of patients admitted to the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Hospital Galveston, TDCJ.

Directs all health service activities for patients in the TCU and assumes ultimate responsibility for all health care provided on the unit.

Works under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer/Chief Physician Executive for Hospital Galveston.

Specific Job Related Duties

Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine or Family Medicine. If board eligible, must complete board certification within one year of assuming the position.

The Medical Director for the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Hospital Galveston oversees the medical care of patients in a 24 bed unit. The TCU is comprised of patients with a myriad of diverse pathology and needs. The acuity will include patients requiring long-term ventilator care, inpatient acute care, rehabilitation and short-term skilled nursing, assisted living or convalescent/ total care.
