The University of Texas Medical Branch Pathologist Assistant - Surgical Pathology Division in Galveston, Texas
Bachelor’s degree in related field. Certified by the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistant; OR, must have a Bachelor’s degree or Doctorate of Medicine plus completion of two years of anatomical pathology residency training.
To provide assistance to Staff Pathologists and Residents in preparation of surgical specimens.
Specific Job Related Duties
Assure correct accessioning of all surgical specimens, dictation and complete dissection and complete dissection of all tissue specimens, selection and submission of tissue sections for microscopic examination, preparation of tissue cassettes for automated processing, photographing gross specimens and completion of photomicroscopy duties.
Prepare frozen section, electron microscopic sections, and gross specimens as teaching specimens.
Assist in quality management programs.
Oversee maintenance of equipment, laboratory supplies and work areas.
Assist with resident and student teaching.
Must be able to communicate effectively with families, physicians and other hospital staff.
Adhere to internal controls established
