Min Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent in related field and two years of related experience.


To provide assistance in matters of financial activities such as debt administration, issuance and analysis, budget, contract compliance, financial reports, and other business management services with a limited functional or organizational scope.

The Police Department also implements programs that are aimed at preserving the assets of UTMB.

Salary Range

From $47,476 To $51,500 Annually- Depending on Experience

Specific Job Related Duties

Financial Relate Duties (80%):

  • Gathers data from multiple sources and compiles information into reports
  • Prepares various financial reports and analysis as requested by internal and external agencies
  • Assists the Senior Financial Analyst in all aspects of the budgeting process- planning, preparation, loading, and tracking of expenses
  • Compiles and performs monthly reconciliations as required to maintain an appropriate control environment
  • Provides historical and projected financial data to senior management, which will be used to make relevant financial and operational decisions
  • Maintains and updates all departmental accounts and signature tables
  • Assists in tracking and monitoring monthly variances for the department
  • Assists in implementing financial policies and procedures for the department
  • Verifies and submits all end of month billing and cost transfers/journal entries
  • Develops models and tracks trends for multiple areas within the department

Administrative/Other Duties (20%):

  • Submits all HR transactions in PeopleSoft HCM, at the request of the Administrative Operations Manager
  • Analyzes the financials to ensure Purchase Orders & Non-PO Vouchers were paid properly; works closely with Sr. Administrative Support Associates to resolve any issues discovered

General Duties:

  • Gains a thorough knowledge of all policies and procedures related to the job and adheres to all internal controls established for the department and the institution
  • Adheres to all established reporting structures
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree in Related Field

Preferred Skill/Competency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Especially Excel)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced experience and proficiency in Excel with the ability to effectively manage and manipulate large amounts of data, including experience with Pivot Tables
  • Experience in PeopleSoft HCM and FMS, Hyperion, Smartview, and/or DataMart
  • Ability to independently research and resolve problems and follow through on assignments
  • Willingness to participate in various departmental project teams
  • Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills needed in order to meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines in an environment of changing priorities
