The University of Texas Medical Branch Asst Prof (N-T Trk Clin) - Ophthalmology in Galveston, Texas
Candidate should be a graduate of an accredited medical school, have completed an ACGME approved residency training program in ophthalmology, with interest and training in retina, be Certified/Board Eligible in Ophthalmology and have a Texas Medical license without restrictions.
Specific Job Related Duties
The purpose of this position is to provide faculty support to meet the teaching, research and patient care needs of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences and assist in fulfilling UTMB’s threefold mission.
The person in this position will engage in the full range of eye care, with major emphasis on patients suffering from retina. Eye care will include surgery, outpatient clinics, inpatient care and management as well as consults in the Houston/Galveston area. The faculty member will participate fully in the departmental resident, fellowship and medical student training and teaching programs. I addition this position will participate in activities of the department including conferences and lectures, bedside teaching and rounds; house staff supervision in the operating room, clinics and in-patient services; continuing medical education; and local, regional and national meetings. Students will include medical students, house staff, nursing students and allied health students.
The individual will also be responsible for advancing clinical knowledge through his/her research efforts related to retina. The faculty member will participate in either basic research (laboratory) or clinical research and publication of scientific articles.
