The University of Texas Medical Branch Assistant Director,Financial Aid - Enrollment Services in Galveston, Texas
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and five years of experience in financial aid management in a higher education environment, including supervision of staff and responsibility for financial aid management.
Provide organizational and supervisory skills in the effective management of the daily operations in the Financial Aid department and customer service area of Enrollment Services.
$57,040 - $71,300 annually, commensurate with experience.

Specific Job Related Duties
Work with Assistant VP of Student Services and Director of Financial Aid to ensure all federal, state and institutional regulations regarding financial aid are in place and being followed.
Act as liaison in the financial aid process for all four schools; following federal and state guidelines and the UTMB Financial Aid philosophy.
Provide direction and leadership for three Enrollment Services Specialists. Address issues and make decisions that are not within the scope of the Enrollment Services Specialists.Manage the front office as it relates to customer service to students in person, phone and email regarding all Enrollment Services areas.
Serve as the primary contact for all Veterans Affairs issues, including providing certification for benefits.
Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with staff, applicants, current and former students, departments outside entities the institutional and school policies and procedures. Promote participation among members of the team concerning financial aid issues, training to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of customer service and the delivery of service to students. Act as subject matter expert for staff in the daily processing of financial aid.
Proactively resolve student/customer issues; articulate, explain and recommend or take action to meet the needs of the student/customer and willing to go beyond the request to resolve a problem related to admissions, collections, financial aid, records, registration, work study and veteran affairs.
Utilize MySTAR System to create, maintain and communicate issues and develop work flow solutions for technical processes and financial aid. Make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of customer services
Assist with financial aid reports to ensure accuracy and timely completion, as required by all laws and regulations including UT System Regulations, and federal and state laws and regulations.
