The University of Texas Medical Branch Regional Medical Director,CMC-Region 1-AUSTIN in Austin, Texas
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas and ten (10) years of progressive management/leadership and patient care experience. Practical experience in Tele-Medicine, Electronic Utilization Review and Quality Improvement is desirable.
Serves as Medical Director for a number of correctional facilities within a designated Region. Provides professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients and of employees injured as a result of TDCJ-ID work related activities. Insures that appropriate health care is accessible and provided to the inmate population in a timely fashion. Renders final medical judgment regarding care provided to designated inmates according to Health Services Policies and Procedures. Directs all Health Services activities within the region and assumes ultimate responsibility for all medical providers assigned within the region. Works under the direction of the Senior Medical Director.
This leadership position requires Board Certification with a preference for a primary care specialty such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, OB-GYN, General Surgery or Emergency Medicine.
Specific Job Related Duties
Position is responsible for a wide geographic area in Texas from San Antonio area to the Valley. Specific physical location for the position is flexible within this Region. Travel is required.
