The University of Texas Medical Branch Phlebotomist - Angleton Danbury Campus (up to 19 hours per week) in Angleton, Texas
High school or equivalent. No experience required.
Phlebotomist performs collection of blood samples through the use of skin puncture and venipuncture techniques.
The salary range for this position is from $12.69 to $19.04 per hour for up to 19.99 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits.
This is a pay Band Code PC11.
Specific Job Related Duties
Properly identifies patient, draws blood samples and sends to laboratory for analysis.
Identifies patients according to hospital protocol prior to specimen collection.
Assesses problems related to transport of specimens, laboratory data, and difficult blood collections and determines appropriate action.
Ensure that blood is properly acquired by means of venipuncture, skin puncture, or arterial collection.
May transport the specimen to the correct laboratory.
Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record keeping duties.
Reviews and suggests revisions for policies and procedures, as assigned.
Adheres to internal controls established for department.
Adheres to all safety protocols in each laboratory area.
Performs related duties as required.
Must be willing to work any shift, including weekends.
Recent work experience and/or certification in Phlebotomy a plus.
